M96 - NGC3368  
Leo

Intermediate spiral galaxy about 31 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. 		 
 
It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781. M96 is the brightest galaxy within the M96 Group, a group of galaxies in the constellation of Leo, which also includes the Messier objects M95 and M105, as well as at least nine other galaxies.

The M96 galaxy has asymmetric arms and a displaced core, probably caused by the gravitational pull by the other nearby galaxies.

Fue escubierta por Pierre Méchain en 1781. M96 es la galaxia más brillante dentro del grupo de M96, un grupo de galaxias en la constelación de Leo, que incluye también los objetos Messier M95 y M105, así como al menos otras nueve galaxias.

La galaxia M96 tiene brazos asimétricos y un núcleo desplazado, probablemente causado por la influencia gravitacional de las otras galaxias cercanas.
