SH2-155 - The Cave Nebula  
Cepheus

The Cave Nebula (Sh2-155 or Caldwell 9) is a faint but large region of double ionized hidrogen, surrounded by dust, that lies in the constellation Cepheus. 		 
 
The area contains ionized hidrogen nebula and reflection nebulae (as van den Bergh object vdB-155, located in the lower side, not shown in this picture). The area is populated by many dark nebulae, some very prominent and detailed. One of these is the central "cave-like" structure that gives this nebula its descriptive nick name. The Cave Nebula is about 2,400 light years distant from Earth.

Este área contiene nebulosas de hidrógeno ionizado y de reflexión (como el objetop van den Bergh vdB-155, situado en la parte inferior, no mostrado en esta imagen). Las zona está poblada de muchas nebulosas oscuras, algunas muy destacadas y detalladas. Una de esas es la estructura central en forma de cueva que da a esta nebulosa su nombre común. La "Nebulosa de la Cueva" se encuentra aproximadamente a 2.400 años luz de distancia de la Tierra.
