NGC7380 - Wizard Nebula Ha Bubble

Typical star forming region in the direction of an outer spiral arm of our galaxy (around 7,000 light years distant). This is a 8 hrs exposure H-alpha picture.		  
 
What you see here is 47 images, 10 minutes each, making a total of near 8 hrs exposure, using Ha 7nm filter during full moon period.

This object contains many young stars which winds and radiation sculpt clouds of gas and dust forming pilars. The darkest parts are foreground clouds of dust thick enough to extinct the light beyond them. There can be seen a newly formed bubble similar to the Bubble Nebula and Thor's Helmet.

NGC 7380 is an open cluster discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787. William Herschel included his sister's discovery in his catalog, and labelled it H VIII.77. It is also known as 142 in the 1959 Sharpless catalog (Sh2-142).

Lo que ves en la imagen es el producto de 47 tomas de 10 minutos cada una, haciendo un total de casi 8 horas de exposición con un filtro Ha de 7nm durante luna llena.

Este objeto contiene muchas estrellas jóvenes cuyos vientos y radiación esculpe nubes de gas y polvo formando pilares. Las partes más oscuras son nubes de polvo situadas delante y que son suficientemente finas como para apagar la luz que le llega por detrás. Se puede ver una formación reciente en forma de burbuja, similar a la Nebulosa de la Burbuja y la nebulosa del casco de Thor.

NGC7380 es un cluster abierto descubierto por Caroline Herschel en 1787. William Herschel incluyó el descubrimiento de su hija en su catálogo, y la etiquetó como H VIII.77. Es también conocida como 142 en el catálogo Sharpless de 1959 (Sh2-142).
