Rupes Recta is a linear fault on the Moon, in the southeastern part of the Mare Nubium. The name is Latin for straight cliff, although it is more commonly called the Straight Wall. This is the most well-known escarpment on the Moon, and is a popular target for amateur astronomers.

When the sun illuminates the feature at an oblique angle at about day 8 of the Moon's orbit, the Rupes Recta casts a wide shadow that gives it the appearance of a steep cliff. The fault has a length of 110 km, a typical width of 2–3 km, and a height of 240–300 m. Thus although it appears to be a vertical cliff in the lunar surface, in actuality the grade of the slope is relatively shallow.

To the west of this escarpment is the crater Birt, which is about 17 km in diameter. The Birt Rille is a slightly curved ~50 km long channel that starts and ends in a pit.

Rupes Recta es una falla o fractura geológica en la superficie lunar. Se encuentra en el hemisferio sur, en la parte sudeste del Mare Nubium, en un cráter sin nombre junto al cráter Thebit.

Si bien los geólogos lunares no se han puesto de acuerdo con el origen de la falla, muchos sospechan que se trata del remanente de un gran cráter que fue llenado por la misma lava que formó el Mare Nubium.

Cuando el sol ilumina la falla en ángulo oblicuo alrededor del octavo día de su órbita, la Rupes Recta muestra una ancha sombra que le da la apariencia de un precipicio. La falla tiene una longitud de 110 km, una anchura promedio de 2-3 km, y una altura de 240-300 m. Aunque a la vista parece un gran acantilado su pendiente es relativamente baja. 

Al oeste de este escarpe se encuentra el cráter Birt el cual tiene un diámetro aproximado de 16,90 km. La Rima Birt es un canal ligeramente curvado de ~ 50 km de largo que comienza y termina en un pozo.
